Hello Deborah,

Re: Suggestions for nellaware.com (Your e-mail to me on 5/5/10):

Would you consider writing a guest post for this blog?

http://www.healthnewschronicle.com

This is a new blog I have started and it seems similar in idea to your cholesterolloweringdiets.net blog. I’m bogged down with work and finding it hard to blog. Too bogged down to blog.

Please let me know if you are interested in being a guest author at http://www.healthnewschronicle.com. If you are, then we can discuss details by e-mail. Thank you.

Best Regards,

Jonathan R. Allen

I also have a nutritionally oriented website, centered around antioxidants. After having done quite a bit of research into the cholesterol theory of heart disease for many years, I’ve come to take a different perspective on it than you have. You might want to take a look at a couple of my articles:

Deborah,
I discovered your blog while reviewing a comment made by someone on my health and wellness blog. I glanced at a couple of posts and will come back and read more later. I have had to alter my eating habits due to cholesterol. I have been able to control it with diet and exercise. I start my day with oatmeal and almonds plus I take flaxseed oil as well. I enjoyed reading on your blog.

Take care,
Tim

Tim:

While flaxseed is an excellent source of omega-3 and can help lower cholesterol, it is best to take flax in whole seed form, by purchasing whole seeds and grinding them yourself in a coffe grinder as needed. Flaxseed oil becomes rancid very quickly and most times you cannot smell or taste the rancidity. The same is true of powdered seed – you have no idea how long it has been on the shelf or if has been properly refrigerated. By grinding a few days supply of flaxseed yourself, you can always guarantee it’s freshness.

Jim,

Thank you for your suggestion on using flaxseeds instead of flaxseed oil or capsules. I did not realize flaxseed oil goes bad that quickly. Thanks for the tip!

Take care,
Tim Guffey
